SOCAR has shut down extraction at Gyuneshli platform

SOCAR has shut down the extraction at the platform #10 at the Gyuneshli deposit so as to eliminate the fire, chief engineer of Azneft, B. Agaragimov, said.

The link with the platform is absent. We intend to fully shut down the extraction at the platform but not to reduce the volumes, he said.

Currently 5 vessels keep fighting the fire.

Due to the weather worsening meanwhile the works on the connections of the water pipeline fixings are not over. The underwater search works are terminated due to a strong wind (23-30 m/sec).

Despite of the weather the search of missed oil workers go on, Mr. Agaragimov said. Helicopters are used in these operations.

Specialists of Boots&Coots are working out a plan of necessary works. They participate not in the fire fighting but in the works on the elimination of oil spill when the fire is eliminated.
