Transneft rejects the idea to transport oil via Northern Sea Route because of cost

Transneft has considered the possibility of transporting about 40 million tons of oil via the Northern Sea Route, but abandoned the idea because of the high cost of new infrastructure construction. This was announced by head of strategic development department of Transneft Rasim Mingazetdinov at the meeting of the company's expert council.
