Oil resources at the deposit “Velikoye” may reach 140 million tons

One of the most prospective deposits in the Astrakhan region is “Velikoye”, discovered by the geologists of an “Oil company “AFB” in 2012.

The volume of recoverable resources makes up 42.3 million tons. The total reserves are expected to reach 140 million tons. Geological exploration is kept at the licensed site “Tambovsky” at present.

There found 300 million tons of oil resources up to 5 km depth of formation in the region in total. The rate of production in the region goes up. Last year the volume of oil production exceeded 1 million ton. The main mining share is at the deposit named after Filanovskoye, located at the Caspian Sea. The resources of the “Filanovskoye” make up 220 million tons, however it is much easier to develop the “Velikoye” as any onshore field.
