BP predicts Rosneft and Novatek to have right to export pipeline gas
Rosneft and Novatek will have the right to export pipeline gas to Europe, chief economist of British BP (which owns nearly 20% of Rosneft) Vladimir Drebentsov is sure.
During the conference "Flame 2016", he noted that there’s the development of market relations in this area in Russia - recently Novatek and Rosneft received the right to export gas in liquefied form, and expressed confidence that the companies would have the right to export pipeline gas too.
In an interview with the Interfax Drebentsov also suggested that the words of the Russian authorities about the permission to export gas through a single export channel actually meant the permission of gas exports by independent producers. "I understand that Russia wants to sell more gas, and Gazprom has already run into limitations, but gas of the independent companies can be sold. Gazprom does this through auctions and independent ompanies can find new customers and increase the supply of Russian gas to Europe," - he said.
