Debt of KazMunayGas is $18 bln

The debt of KazMunayGas JSC is currently $18 bln, the chairman of the NWF “Samruk-Kazyna”, U. Shukeev, said.

“KazMunayGas is a serious problem. It has $18 bln of debts and everything it earns is spent for interest. We are to settle this problem in a month-two”, he said.

“To settle this problem Samruk-Kazyna will have to write off funds”, he added.

The deputy chairman of the NWF “Samruk-Kazyna”, E. Bakhmutova, thinks that the problem can be solved.

“I know nothing about $18 bln, I can only say that the oil price has fallen, the extraction at Kashagan is postponed. This makes the situation more complicated but KazMunayGas has a large shareholder - NWF “Samruk-Kazyna”. Now we are trying to find variants how to finance new projects started by KazMunayGas”, she said.
