Dmitry Medvedev promises "Novatek" the government support.

Not only "Rosneft", but also "Novatek" may receive government help under the sanctions, the RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev promised. The "Yamal LNG" project may need help with the financing.

In the context of the Western sanctions the state will continue to support Russian businesses, Dmitry Medvedev stated yesterday at a meeting with Leonid Michelson, the chairman of "Novatek". In July, "Novatek" and "Rosneft", VEB and Gazprombank have fallen under the sanctions of the USA. They are not allowed to borrow from the American banks for more than 90 days. Since March the United States sanctions are applied in respect of Gennady Timchenko. His share in "Novatek" is 23.49% (through Volga Group as of the late 2012). The representative of Timchenko declined to comment. In August the businessman in an interview with Itar-Tass stated that he was ready to give all his assets to the state in the case of need.
