Transneft proposes to extend its system of oil products pipelines by 10 million tons
The existing system of main oil products pipelines (MOPP) has started to be short of throughput capacity that demands for its extension by 10 million tons per year to create comfortable conditions for the oil companies. This conclusion was reached by the expert council of Transneft, RBK reports.
“It’s necessary to carry out an extension of the current MOPP with the reconstruction of its sections, which limit the throughput capacity, as well as the construction of new pipeline to provide for the transportation of the increasing volumes of oil products via the system of main oil products pipelines. The average age of the current products pipelines is about 28 years, and the standard life is 33 years,” – the company reports.
