Is Energy Union of the EU myth or reality?

At current prices for oil and gas the market is still focused on the customer. However, even in this situation it is not so simple to benefit. For the European Union the abundance of choice comes against the background of a set of technical and geopolitical problems. On February 4, foundation of an Energy Union of the EU was laid. This ambitious project implies the creation of a long-term plan of the European energy and climate policy, as well as the appearance of political and economic union to reduce emissions of carbon gas. There are many doubters on this project, but the EU Commissioner for the work in the field of climate and energy Miguel Arias Canete confirmed that plan would include specific measures, and the strategy would imply the full and proper performance. Details of the Union are still being discussed, and the adoption of key documents are scheduled for February 25. The EU’s targets include energy efficiency, diversification and flexibility in addition to increasing the share of renewable energy sources. In particular, the EU aims to increase the share of renewable sources to 50% by 2050 and to reduce the emissions by 30%. All this will cost about $3 trillion, or nearly 15% of the current EU’s GDP. The realization of these objectives will also require huge capital investments to repair and build infrastructure and timely investment, not to speak of the cooperation between the 28 completely different states. This is sufficient to recognize such plan failure, as in the past, the EU countries could rarely agree among themselves on such a fundamental questions, as gas.
