South-Easter Europe and Southern Gas Corridor – new energy plan

The first meeting of the working group on the issues of gas supply of the Central and South-Eastern Europe took place in the capital of Bulgaria. The group was founded after the shutdown of South Stream that caused many problems with the energy supply of this part, the most sensitive in this issue. In two days in Baku the first meeting of the Consultation Council of the Southern Gas Corridor project starts where the issues of gas supply to Europe will also be discussed.

Gas supply in Eastern Europe

The meeting in Sofia, as its initiator, Vice-President of EU Commission, M. Shefchovich said, has started working on a new energy plan for that part of Europe that is still weakly integrated into Europe in the energy issues unlike the Western part. “We discussed how to change the energy problem in the South-East of Europe. The region is insufficiently integrated in our system. The infrastructure projects should be realized. We need accessible energy there at reasonable prices. There are ideas of the projects upon domestic connections”, Mr. Shefchovich said.
