SIBUR can increase PET capacity of Polief by 100 thousand tons

​For that purpose a long-term contract for the supply of paraxyol will be signed with Bashneft.

Sibur holding might expand the production of terephtalic acid at the Polief plant in Bashkiria (Blagoveschensk) in 2017, the managing director of the holding, P. Lyakhovich, said.

The project is at the stage of preparation for realization, he said.

By the end of 2016 or early 2017 the company plans to work out project documentation, approve it and assess the expenditure.

According to Mr. Lyakhovich, the variant of production growth of terephtalic acid by 100 thousand tons is being considered – to 350 thousand tons. Sibur and Bashneft are close to signing the long-term contract for the supply of paraxyol which is used in the production of terephtalic acid.

We receive paraxyol from 2 sources – Gazprom Neft in Omsk and Bashneft in Ufa by mid-term contract, as a rule, annual contracts. Now we discuss a long-term 20-year contract with Bashneft, the basic conditions of which have been agreed.
