Ministry of Energy is ready to consider Rosneft’s proposal on access to Sakhalin-2’s pipe

The Ministry of Energy is ready to consider Rosneft’s proposal on possibility to use pipeline, constructed within the Sakhalin-2 project, to supply gas from the Chaivo field to engineered LNG plant in Sakhalin to reduce the project’s cost, the Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak reported to the agency Prime.

“We should look at it. Perhaps, this is reasonable if they say about reduction of costs,” – he said, noted that he hadn’t seen any documents.

Earlier two sources that are familiar with the project discussion told the agency Prime that Rosneft had sent the corresponding inquiry. The use of the existing infrastructure will allow Rosneft to decrease the costs for the LNG plant construction in Sakhalin, which requires significant investments.
