Russia: Officials manoeuvre around oil producers.
The new tax will affect only 2% of the production in Russia.
Fierce disputes between the RF Ministry of Energy and the RF Ministry of Finance on the introduction of the new tax regime for the oil industry may finally be completed by consensus. This year the officials hope to agree on the concept of tax which can be implemented in 2017. However, currently it will affect only 2% of all oil produced in Russia and, according to sources of "the Kommersant", is an analogue of pilot projects on TFR, which the RF Ministry of Energy was unable to carry out this year. According to analysts, such a cautious approach speaks for an effort to prevent the decrease, while not reducing the budget revenues.
