Georgia not to depend on the Russian gas – Minister

​Georgia will not depend on the Russian gas, the Vice-PM of Georgia, Minister of Energy, K. Kaladze, said, answering the question on the negotiations between Georgia and Gazprom on gas supply.

Georgia has good opportunities so as not to depend on the Russian gas. Based on the reality, in this issue Georgia is in a privileged position, Kaladze said.

In fact the supplies to Georgia are diversified as the country receives gas from various sources – from SOCAR, by the South-Caucasus gas pipeline and from Gazprom.

In future we might have an opportunity to receive gas from Turkmenistan, Iran, if the price is competitive, K. Kaladze said.

Previously the mass media of Georgia reported that the stake of the Russian gas in Georgia might grow.
