Sanctions are more dangerous for Russian oil industry than falling prices

The threat to th Russian oil industry because of sanctions and their implications for attracting money by companies is more serious than the risks associated with the fall in oil prices. This is stated in the review of the international rating agency Fitch Ratings called "Russian Oil and Gas Under Sanctions: Technology, Funding More of a Threat Than Weak Oil prices".

The Agency's stress tests have shown that the credit profiles of the Russian oil companies can cope with the price of oil at the level of $55 per barrel for several years. However, if the access to finance doesn’t become better and export restrictions are maintained, the companies may not be able to make the investments, necessary to maintain their production.
