NLMK continues introduction of coal injection technology

NLMK, the international steel company with production assets in Russia, the USA and the EU, has started installation of process equipment for pulverized coal injection complex at the largest and most productive blast furnaces of the plant at the Lipetsk production site: №6 (3.1 million tons of cast iron per year) and Rossiyanka (4.3 million tons per year).

The coal injection technology provides for joint injection of natural gas and coal dust into a blast furnace. Replacement of expensive raw materials with a cheaper analogue (coking coal with the energy one) reduces the cost of pig iron smelting by about 5%.
