Maersk Oil will increase oil production in Kazakhstan by 4 times by 2016

Maersk Oil Kazakhstan will increase daily oil production at the Dunga deposit in the Mangistau region in Kazakhstan by 4 times to 4,000 tons by 2016.

Stage 2 of the Dunga deposit development executed by Maersk Oil jointly with Oman Oil Company Limited and Partex Corporation will enable it to increase daily oil production from 1,000 tons to 4,000 tons by 2016, and annual production to over 1 million tons becuase of the enlargement and upgrading of the production capacities and infrastructure. By now, the company has drilled 100 wells of 198 wells planned for stage 2. After their launch, the daily oil debit of each of the new wells with projected depth of 1,700 m will be 25-50 tons of oil. The project also presupposes construction of 135 km of new roads, laying of 180 km of pipelines and assembling of 150 km of air power lines, construction of a new power substation of 15MW and new production objects for collection, complex preparing and storing of oil. Total cost of the project is $1 billion. Drilling is performed by the local contractor company Astra Star
