Russia to introduce prepayment for gas, supplied to the Ukraine, from June, 1

Russia will introduce prepayment for gas, supplied to the Ukraine, from June, 1st,the Russian Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak stated.

The term, under which the Ukrainian party was to pay for supplied gas, expired on May, 7th. From March of the current year, there weren’t payments from Naftogaz Ukrainy. To date, the total debt of the Ukraine for gas has reached $3.508 billion.

“According to points 5.1.5 and 5.8 of the gas supply contract dated 2009 between Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukrainy, the non-fulfillment of obligations entails automated transfer to a prepayment mode of gas supplies to the Ukraine from June, 1st,” – Alexander Novak noted.
