Chukotka reduced gold production by 15% to 13.8 tons in H1 2016

Subsoil users of the Chukotka Autonomous Area in H1 2016 extracted 13.8 tons of gold, by 15% lower than in H1 2015, the Government of the Autonomous Area reports. Chukotka in the Far East of Russia is one of the main gold mining regions. On the results of 2015, 32.1 tons of gold were extracted there, by 0.4% higher than in 2014. Silver extraction rose by 13% to 156 tons. The extraction of hardrock gold in Chukotka was held by 5 enterprises: Chukotka mining and geological company JSC, Northern gold Ltd, Karalveem Mine OJSC, Valunisty Mine Ltd and Maysky Zk Ltd.
