Rosneft has drilled a unique well at Junin-6 project in Venezuela

Rosneft has drilled a unique horizontal well GGa114 at the Junin-6 project in Venezuela. It is constructed for the development of hydrocarbons reserves which lay at a small depth and that opens new perspectives in the development of oil bearing place of the Orinoco river.

The GG1-14 well was drilled with the help of a standard vertical drilling unit. The productive layer is located at the depth of 1,140 feet (less than 350 m). The length of the well reached almost 6,060 feet (1,847 m).

The wellbore passage in the productive area with the constant control of the well path is a particular feature. Rosneft has managed to reach the drift angle of the well having turned about the bore bit in a very close space. Such a result was reached with the application of a modern technology of drilling with the use of a rotor control system which was put into operation at Junin-6 with the help of Rosneft.

GG1-14 well belongs to the category of the most complicated or drilling wells by the ERD system. DDI is 6.63, ERD – 4.44, which became a record for the wells in Venezuela.
