Salym Petroleum starts to drill the first well at the Bazhenov group

Salym Petroleum Development (SPD) has started to drill the first horizontal well within the pilot project of the Bazhenov group's development at the Verkhne-Salymskoye field. On the whole, SPD plans to construct 5 such wells, using the technology of multi-stage hydraulic fracturing of the formation in 2014-2015.

During the last three years, SPD has carried out  large-scale work on the study of the Bazhenov group at the Verkhne-Salymskoye field: the company drilled 3 vertical appraisal wells, carried out 3D seismic survey, sampled core, fulfilled a wide complex of geophysical surveys of the wells, and carried out long tests of two wells to assessthe  production perspectives of the Bazhenov group. The made survey helped to decrease uncertainties in its geological construction and allowed SPD’s specialists to formulate their demands to land infrastructure and oil extraction technology.
