Natural gas deficit covering to be discussed with SOCAR
According to G. Volsky, a member of the majority of the Parliament of Georgia, today the issue of covering the natural gas deficit will be discussed at the meeting with the representative of SOCAR. Recently the incorrect reports have been made.
Georgia by means of SOCAR receives from its strategic partner – Azerbaijan- a certain volume of gas which covers the major part of the need. From 2003 a certain part of the deficit is covered by Gazprom. Gazprom is interested in gas supply to Armenia and it depends on the passing via Georgia. So there is a mutual dependence, Mr. Volsky said.
There is a necessity to cover the deficit – it is about various volumes – from 40 mln cubic m of gas to 130-150 mln cubic m, and it is provided by Gazprom.
Mr. Volsky said that the details will be discussed today, mainly the price and then it will be decided from what source to cover the deficit.
