The Ukraine comes back to Poland to receive reverse gas

The Ukraine has resumed gas supplies from Poland after a six-week break. This directions of the reverse supply, the least significant in terms of volumes, was closed since the beginning of the year due to unprofitability. The resumption of the supplies, according to analysts, may be associated with a desire of the Polish company PGNiG to sell excess gas, received by a long-term contract with Gazprom. Against the background of the prospects of gas prices fall following the oil price European companies free their capacities for more favorable purchase.

Yesterday, Ukrtransgaz received the reverse gas from Poland for the first time this year. According to the Polish gas transmission operator Gas System, the Ukrainian party filed an application for 110 thousand cubic meters, which is about 3% of the throughput capacity of the system in the direction of the Ukraine. Prior to this, the reverse gas supplies from Poland were carried out in December last time, when 67 million cubic meters of gas per month were delivered to the Ukraine (1.25% of the country consumption). Then the reverse gas supplies stopped, which was explained by head of Naftogaz Ukrainy Andrei Kobolev with the need to coordinate the new pricing terms.
