Southern Gas Corridor creates good opportunities for Azerbaijan

The project of the Southern Gas Corridor creates good opportunities for Azerbaijan and the other countries participating in its realization, the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, N. Aliev said.

According to him, the main people will be engaged into the realization of the project and great opportunities will be created for them. TANAP will go from the east to the west of Turkey via 20 provinces, 67 districts and about 600 towns. With its help 6 bln cubic m of gas will be pumped to Turkey in 2019 and 10 bln cubic m of gas will be shipped to Europe in 2020. TAP, which is a part of TANAP, will go via Greece, Albania and Italy, the Minister said.

The regional Vice-President of BP in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, I. Sutherland, said that the throughput capacity of the pipelines might be expanded and that will allow to distribute the shipped gas to a larger territory. “This is the largest project in BP’s portfolio. With its help the Caspian energy resources will be shipped to the European market that will allow to diversify the sources of supply. Another important factor is that the project will allow to found thousands of new work places in many countries”, he said.
