Gazprom out-argues Turkish importers
According to the Kommersant’s information, Gazprom is close to an agreement with the Turkish private importers, to which it limited gas supplies at the end of February because of a pricing dispute. According to experts, Gazprom could achieve the cancellation a discount, provided to the Turks last year, that can bring the company about $130 million of additional margin. However, we are talking about reaching the agreement on the price only until the end of the year, and the preservation of a common rigid attitude of the Russian gas monopoly could potentially weaken its position in the Turkish market, as it already happened in the Ukraine and the Baltic States.
Gazprom has reached an agreement in principle with the Turkish private importers to resolve the dispute on gas prices this year, sources on the market told the Kommersant. This information was confirmed to the Kommersant by sources close to Gazprom and one of the importers. They declined to say what were the new agreements on the price. Now Gazprom must resume the gas supplies in full, which it limited since the end of February. Gazprom and Gazprom Export declined to comment.
