Total oil volume exported by Baku-Supsa exceeded 76 mln tons

​The total oil volume exported by the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline until now made up 76.3 mln tons, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan reports.

It was the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline that was the basis of the energy corridor “East-West”. On May 15th a special event will be held in Georgia dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the corridor.

In March 1996 Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement on oil pumping via the territory of Georgia by the Baku-Supsa pipeline. The pipeline was put into operation on April 17th 1999. The length of the pipeline is 837 km, diameter – 530 mm. The pipeline with the throughput capacity of 7.5 mln tons of oil a day was constructed in the framework of the contract for the development of Azeri-Chirag-Gyuneshli deposits.
