SIBUR approves gas fractionation capacity expansion project.

The Investment Committee of Sibur approved the expansion project of the complex of processing of natural gas liquids (NGL) at the Tobolsk industrial site. As a result of the project the total fractionation capacity in Tobolsk will be increased from 6.6 to 8 million tons per year.

Over the past few years Sibur has consistently increased the gas fractionation capacity at the Tobolsk site. Since its start in 1984 gas fractionation unit "Tobolsk-Petrochemicals" processed about 2 million tons of NGL per year. Since 2005 its capacity gradually increased, reaching 3 million tons in 2009, 3.5 million tons in 2010 and 3.8 million tons in 2011. In 2014 with the commissioning of two gas fractionation plants the total capacity of the Tobolsk site reached 6.6 million tons per year.

The project will increase the capacity of the second gas fractionation plant from 2.8 to 4.2 million tons due to retrofit internal devices, heat exchangers and pumps, cooling tower construction and the expansion of the commodity and raw materials base.
