Geological exploration at Zhambyl deposit in Kazakhstan with participation of South Korea will begin in 2013

 

From the beginning of 2013, South Korea and Kazakhstan will start active geological exploration at the Zhambyl deposit at the Kazakhstan shelf of the Caspian Sea, the President of South Korea, Lee Myung-bak says after the negotiations with the President of  Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev.

 

 

Under the results of the work in September 2004, KazMunaiGas Gas and the Korean consortium signed their protocol, defining Zhambyl as a perspective site for further negotiations. In April 2005. KazMunaiGas Gas was granted the subsoil use rights for hydrocarbons exploration at the Zhambyl site with further closure of a contract for exploration. While preparing the project they performed the state expertise of the exploration contract including the ecological expertise, background research, the preliminary estimation of impact to environment, and public hearings.
