Gazprom can lose $1.7-5 billion due to freezing of tariffs

Gazprom’s shortfall in income due to the freezing of the tariffs for 2014 can make up $1.7-5 billion, analysts from some investment banks and companies say. However, others believe, Gazprom won’t suffer as much because of the new plans of Russian authorities.

On Wednesday it became known that Vladimir Putin approved the freezing of the natural monopolies’ tariffs in 2014. Particularly, indexation of gas tariffs was postponed from June 2014 to June 2015.
