Before 2020, UC Rusal will transfer 2.1 million tons of its Russian production capacities to ecological technology

Before 2020, UC Rusal will transfer 2.1 million tons of its Russian aluminum production capacities to Ecological Soderberg technology. Upgrading is realized at the company’s largest plants in Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk.

The first trial electrolytic cells were launched by Ecological Soderberg technology in 2009 at Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant. Since 2010, the plant transferred to the new technology 286 electrolytic cells. Aluminum production by Ecological Soderberg technology at Krasnoyarsk plant was 160,000 tons in 2013, having shared 16% in total production of the plant.
