China constructs a large enterprise on lead production in Tajikistan

​A large metallurgical enterprise is being constructed in Istiklol, the Sogodiysk region of Tajikistan.

In the north of Tajikistan a Chinese company constructs a large metallurgical plant on lead and zinc production.

The investment into the construction is assessed at $200 mln. After the putting into operation, 1,300 work places will be formed at the plant in Istiklol. According to the local Government, 90% of employees will be the citizens of Tajikistan.

Now about 100 people are working at the site.

Istiklol is located near rich deposits of polymetallic ore. Uranium has been produced there for about 20 years already. Then the production of uranium was shut down.

The Government of China stimulates the transfer of metallurgical capacities to other countries of the world as it is pressurized by the West than accuses China of problems in the world steel market caused by the over production and surplus capacities.

China is negotiating on the construction of its plants with Russia and Kazakhstan and other countries.
