Masimov: Kashagan to be launched in October 2016
The Ministry of Energy ad KMG face a goal of the recovery of oil extraction at Kashagan in October 2016 that was shut down in 2013.
Oil extraction in Kashagan is to be renewed in October 2016, the PM of Kazakhstan, K Masimov, said.
He said that all necessary for that negotiations have been held, necessary normative decisions have been made.
Now the consortium needs to take it to the logical end, he said.
The extraction at Kashagan was frozen in October 2013, 2 weeks after the start, due to gas leakage. Right after the recovery of extraction in October 2013 another leakage was found out. The operator North Caspian Operating Co (NCOC) in April 2014 confirmed the necessity of a full replacement of the gas pipeline and oil pipeline at the deposit the total length of which makes up about 200 km. the Government expects the renewal of extraction in late 2016.
