RUSAL to expand the production of high-tech alloys at the Siberian plants.

UC RUSAL has started the basic engineering of the project to build a new casting complex at the Krasnoyarsk aluminum smelter. RUSAL VAMI acts as the general designer. The members of UC RUSAL Engineering and Technology Center, KrAZ and aluminum division of the company are also included into the newly created working group. The concept of placing the equipment in the existing structures of the casting complex number 1 at the Krasnoyarsk aluminum smelter to ensure the optimal process is being discussed.

In the first phase the necessary research will be carried out, the details of the project will be refined. The commissioning of the equipment will let KrAZ produce the extrusion billets of large diameter in volumes of 120 thousand tons per year. The project cost is estimated at $ 45 million.

"We are talking about the modern equipment that will recycle the metal into the new alloys, rather than producing additional aluminum. Accordingly, it will not bring the additional load on the environment. The casting complex is planned for 2016", - Yevgeniy Yelizarov, the aluminum division of RUSAL project manager for the development of casting , stated.
