SOCAR still intends to purchase 66% of shares of DESFA – head of SOCAR

​SOCAR still intends to purchase 66% of shares of the Greek gas distribution company DESFA, the head of SOCAR, R. Abdullaev, said.

“We have frozen the decision by this issue until December 2015. We are waiting for the results of the preliminary elections to the Parliament of Greece, after which we will discuss this issue with the new Government of Greece. We intend to buy 66% of this company”, he said.

Previously it was reported referring to the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, HRADF that SOCAR hopes to complete the deal on the purchase of 66% in DESFA until December 21st 2015.

Currently there are 2 possible variants of privatization of DESFA. The 1st one presupposes the completion of the sale of 66% in DESFA but with the additional agreement on the purchase of 17% by the Government of Greece and thus Greece will hold 51% in DESFA.
