Turkmenistan has discovered a new gas deposit

​2 new deposits were discovered near the largest Galkynysh deposit in Turkmenistan in 2015. It allows to speak about the growth of proven gas reserves at this site.

As a result of the prospecting and exploratory works new Gerakel and Bagly deposits have been discovered, Turkmengeologiya reports.

The reserves of the Galkynysh deposit along with the closely located Yashlar and Gerakel are assessed at 27.4 trln cubic m.

The plan of gas reserves growth in Turkmenistan in 2015 was executed by 132%.

In 2015 the prospecting and exploratory works were held at 32 oil and gas sites and deposits and 35 exploratory wells were drilled. In 2016 the search and exploration of liquid hydrocarbons and gas not containing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide will be the priority for GC Turkmengeologiya.
