Rosneft is planned to be privatized on credit

The Government continues to think how to manage to sell 19.5% of Rosneft on a bad market so that it didn’t look a sellout for a pittance. At current prices, this package costs over 600 billion rubles, while in general 800 billion rubles are planned to be received from the privatization this year. But it will be difficult to sell the shares, three federal officials admitted.

According to them, three options were discussed. The first one was to sell some portion on the public market (4%), the rest of the package to a strategic investor. The option was almost immediately refused, as they wouldn’t manage to get a premium to the current price.
