Severstal invested over 35 mln. roubles into converter steel production development in Q1

The Cherepovetsk Iron-and-Steel works, one of the world’s largest integrated plants on steel production (part of “Severstal Russian steel” division) invested more than 35 million roubles into the implementation of the programme on an increase of converter steel production volume up to 9.8 million tons.

The programme includes the projects on the reconstruction of facilities on water cycle supply of converters and continuous casting plants.

So, the active stage of the project on the construction of a new ventilation cooling tower No8 of approximately 188 million roubles in cost started in 2014. The cooling tower of 6000 cubic meters productivity an hour is meant for the cooling of the water of the reverse clean cycle of water supply of the converter steel workshops. Steel aggregates, mainly rollers and casting molds of the continuous-casting plant are cooled down with the help of these cooling towers.

The fundamental reconstruction of the chimney-type cooling tower No5 (operated since 1979) of 125 million roubles in value was kept on in the first quarter. The tower is used for cooling of water for the secondary cooling of slabs of the continuous casting machine No1-5.
