Gazprom extends auctions to Austria
Gazprom Export has announced the third gas auction for Europe with delivery in winter of 2016-2017 years. At the first such auction with delivery points in Germany the monopoly sold 1.2 billion cubic meters, at the second one - 420 million cubic meters in the Baltic countries. Now Gazprom added to the German hubs delivery points in Austria, which theoretically allows it to sell gas, supplying in transit through the Ukraine. Experts believe that the gas prices growing after the oil quotations may whet the interest of buyers and Gazprom will be able to sell up to 3 billion cubic meters.
Gazprom Export (a structure of Gazprom) has announced that on August 31 - September 2 it will hold an auction for the sale of gas to Europe for delivery in winter of 2016-2017. This will be the second trading for Western Europe (the first auction was held there in September 2015) and the third one, taking into account the auction for the Baltic states, held in March 2016. As well as a year ago, gas will be offered at delivery points of Greifswald (Germany, the point of landfall of the Trans- Baltica Nord Stream gas pipeline), Gaspool VP (a virtual point of delivery) and Olbernhau (the border of Germany and the Czech Republic). But now, buyers will also be able to take gas in Baumgarten (the key hub on the border of Slovakia and Austria) and Arnoldstein (the border of Austria and Italy). The deliveries could be carried out to these hubs mainly via the Nord Stream gas pipeline, but they also can be carried out through the Ukraine – the Ukrainian export route goes to Baumgarten.
