Photosphate ore is found in Armenia

A prospective photosphate ore occurrence has been discovered in Armenia. The content of phosphorus in the ore approximately make up 0.81-12%, or up to 29% in some cases, according to preliminary data. The layers are horizontal and they allow producing ore on open-cut mining method. The deposit has not been delineated so far and the resources are not defined due to a lack of financing.
Nakhodka is of interest in the context of phosphate fertilizers. The solid has been richened up to 15-32% content in a laboratory environment.
The annual demand of Armenia for phosphate fertilizer is assessed at 110-120 thousand tons. 5-10% of which is imported in terms of superphosphate, while there is no own large production in Armenia. According to the Agrochemical department of the Ministry of Agriculture in Armenia, 8% of farming lands are provided by phosphor in good supply, 29% - in reasonable quality.
