Rosneft to plan to start drilling in the Kara Sea this year

This year, Rosneft intends to extend its assets portfolio of offshore fields and to activate work at the current projects. Particularly, the company plans to start drilling of the first well in the Kara Sea – a year earlier than it should be according to licensed obligations, as well as the drilling of a prospecting and appraisal well in the Caspian Sea.

Last year, Rosneft carried out much work on the preparation for drilling operations on the shelf, appraisal of the company’s need for ships was carried out and the main types of vessels and sea facilities that are necessary for the projects implementation were determined. Over 30 units of sea technique were used during geological exploration on the Russian shelf. The leading Russian and world scientific design organizations took part in the research.
