Over the past three months, the hryvnia fell by more than a third*. The growth of the dollar affects importers most - incomes and purchasing power are falling. Currency growth, by contrast, plays into the hands for the exporters, the largest of which are metallurgical enterprises.

Intelligibly, though very simplistic, they benefit from the devaluation was described by Yuri Hotlubey, the Mayor of Mariupol.
