Environmental prosecutor's office in the Irkutsk region intends to stop construction of oil refinery

Brotherly interdistrict environmental prosecutor's office has checked the legality of the construction of an oil refinery in Elansky village in the Kuitunsk district of the Irkutsk region. The basis for the inspection became materials of the criminal case on the fact of an illegal tie-in to the main oil pipeline.

The Office found numerous violations of the laws in the field of oil and gas industry, as well as in the land and environmental legislation. Namely, the plant was illegally built on agricultural land and wasn’t included in the register, which is in the responsibility of the Russian Ministry of Energy, as a projected plant under construction.
