The Russian Railways are going to reject rail imports from 2015

The Russian Railways are going to reject rail imports from 2015, and to start using only Russian rails, the First Vice President of the company V. Morozov says. This year the Russian Railways are going to buy 800,000 tons of rails in Evraz.

Till now, only Evraz ZSMC and Evraz NTMC have made rails, and they are unable to supply to the consumers rails with length of 100 m.

On Tuesday, Mechel launched a unique rail mill at its Chelyabinsk metal works, able to produce rails with length of 12.5-100 m.
