Sechin suggests to the government that it tighten control over “Gazprom”

Rosneft’s president I.Sechin has suggested the Russian Prime Minister D.Medvedev to change the accession order of independent gas producers to the gas transporting system of “Gazprom”, reform the tariff system and tighten control over the monopolist. Vedomosti writes on September 16th.

Sechin confirms in the letters to the chairman of the Government that “Gazprom” permits independent producers to the gas transmission network at its own convenience. There is no regulatory system. The negotiations last for months. It causes default of a the treaty and penalties. One has to pump gas into the underground gas storages, which also belong to Gazprom. The gas business in Russia when using gas storages is unprofitable, Sechin says.
