Cost of “North-South” gas pipeline in Pakistan to make up $2-2.5 bln - Rostekh

​The cost of the “North-South” gas pipeline in Pakistan will make up $2-2.5 bln. It will be realized by RT-Global Resources, an affiliate of Rostekh.

The Governments of Russia and Pakistan signed the intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the North-South gas pipeline from Karachi to Lakhor.

The document was signed by A. Novak and Minister of Oil and Natural Resoruces, Sh. Kh. Abbasi.

The gas pipeline with the length of 1.1 thousand km with the throughput capacity of up to 12.4 bln cubic m a year will connect the LNG acceptation terminals in Karachi in the south of Pakistan with Lakhor in the north.

The period of the gas pipeline’s construction is 42 months. The project will be realized in 3 stages. At the first stage, by Q2 2018 the gas pipeline will be constructed; at the 2nd stage, by Q2 2019 a part of compressor stations; at the 3rd stage – by Q2 2020 all compressor stations will be put into operation as the gas pipeline will reach its full capacity – 12.4 bln cubic m a year.
