Kazakhmys wants to process copper ore

Kazakhmys (Kazakhstan) has launched pilot tests of hydrometallurgical technology for processing of concentrates from poor copper sulfide ores. The introduction of hydrometallurgy will allow the company to involve ore with a low copper content into processing, which will make up the resource base and extend the production activities of the Zhezkazgan area for more than 50 years.

Kazakhmys has fully completed research and development, as well as laboratory tests. In August, a hydrometallurgical pilot industrial area on the territory of Zhezkazgan copper plant was built and successfully tested. As a result, positive results for the production of copper cathode were obtained.
