Yatsenyuk hopes the Ukraine will import up to 8 bln cubic m of gas from Poland

​In case of a successful construction of a gas interconnector, the Ukraine will be able to import up to 8 bln cubic m of gas from Poland, the PM of the Ukraine, A. Yatsenyuk, said at the meeting with the President of Poland, A. Duda.

We have a common project – the construction of the interconnector between the Ukraine and Poland. If it is constructed, you will sell large volumes of gas from you – 8 bln cubic m. and together we will be energy independent, Mr. Yatsenyuk said.

The operators of the gas transportation systems of the Ukraine and Poland on December 17th 2014 signed an agreement which presupposes the construction of a route gas interconnector between 2 countries. The parties expect the project will be completed by 2020. The integration of the Poland and Ukraine’s gas transportation systems is a part of the North-South gas corridor, which will connect the LNG-terminal in Svinoustie with the countries of the Central and Western Europe via certain countries and trans-bordering systems. The goal is to found a flexible infrastructure of gas supply in the countries which connect the Western, Central and Eastern Europe, Baltic States.
