In 2013, Evraz increased steelmaking by 1.1% to 16.1 million tons
The main results of 2013:
The consolidated steel production and the total volume of steel products grew by 1% and 2% to 16.1 million tons and 15.97 million tons respectively due to the increase of production at enterprises in Russia, the Ukraine and the Republic of South Africa and despite the temporary suspension of certain enterprises in Europe and North America;
The launch of pulverized coal injection unit at Evraz NTMK provided a constant decrease of operational costs;
The rail and beam shop of Evraz ZSMK resumed its work after successful completion of a large-scale investment project on production upgrade. The company received all necessary documents to start the production of differentially-thermostrengthened rails;
Evraz suspended production at EVRAZ Claymont and EVRAZ Palini e Bertoli within the large-scale plan on business optimization;
The volume of commercial iron ore products output reduced by 1% as a result of Evraz’s iron ore business reconstruction program, within which the company sold Evraz VGOK and some subsidiaries of Evrazruda;
