Gas reserves of the main resources base of Power of Siberia have grown

​In 2016 gas reserves of the Chayanda deposit in Yakutia – the main resource base of the future Russia-China gas pipeline Power of Siberia – under C1 (explored) grew by another 86.6 bln cubic m, is said in Gazprom’s report for Q1 2016.

The growth was due to the additionally held exploratory drilling at the beginning of the year and due to the turn of reserves from C2 category (perspective) to C1. In 2015 on the results of the additional geological exploration Gazprom increased gas reserves at Chayanda by 205 bln cubic m under C1.

So Gazprom assessed its C1+C2 reserves of the Chayanda deposit at about 1.4 trln cubic m of gas and about 76.7 mln tons of oil and condensate. Up to 25 bln cubic m of gas and at least 1.5 mln tons of oil a year will be produced at the full development.

The Chayanda deposit is supposed to become one o the main sources of resources for the Power of Siberia, by which gas from the Irkutsk and Yakutia centers of extraction will be pumped to China and the Far East of Russia. The supply volume makes up to 38 bln cubic m a year. Power of Siberia is constructed with the excess of capacities. The throughput capacity of the eastern pipeline will be 61 bln cubic  m a year.
