Nord Stream may refuse transit services to the Ukraine

Russia will be able to supply gas to Europe, bypassing Ukraine, in a number of years, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes.

Russia will be able to reject the Ukraine as the country-transiter of gas to Europe in 3 years. S.Chizhov, president of the Russian gas union said to the edition.

“We have 2 variants with the help of which we will be able to do without the Ukraine. First of all, it is to increase supplies via the gas pipelines, including “Nord Stream”, by 15%. Secondly, we can pump gas into “South Stream”, if only the European Committee is not against it.

We remind that Gazprom has introduced prepayment system for gas supplies to Ukraine. Naftogaz has failed to pay off the debt, even partially.
