Oil pumping by BTC rose by 1 mln tons

In Jan-June 2014 17.6 mln tons of oil were pumped by the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline (BTC) against 16.6 mln tons in Jan-June 2013. The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reports.

¾ of the entire oil volume pumped by all the oil pipelines of the country was done by BTC, is reported.

In 2013 33 mln tons of oil were pumped by BTC against 32.9 mln tons in 2012.

According to the Statistics Committee, in general in Jan-June 2014 23.3 mln tons of oil were transported by the country’s route pipelines, by 7.3% more than in Jan-June 2013.

The total length of the BTC oil pipeline is 1,768 km, 443 km of which lay in Azerbaijan, 249 km – Georgia, 1,076 km – Turkey. The pipeline’s construction started in April 2003, its filling with oil – on May 18th 2005.
